Our Mission is to address faith, death, morale, and general wellbeing for Los Angeles County Fire Department families and to provide emotional, pastoral, and spiritual support to those of all religions and faiths.

LACFD Chaplain’s Benevolent Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible in accordance with all applicable laws. Our IRS tax identification number is 95-4461523. Upon receiving your donation, we will email you a receipt and donor acknowledgement letter that you may use for tax purposes.
Our Work
The Los Angeles County Fire Department Chaplains provide non-denominational spiritual care to all the members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department family.
Our care is focused on a ministry of presence which provides spiritual support and practical needs for our families who are in crisis so that no family member suffers alone.
The Benevolence Fund allows our fire department Chaplains to help our fire department members and their families who are in a crisis. The fund is used for providing needs that include travel expenses, lodging, and meals for fire department families when one of our members is seriously sick or injured and is hospitalized far away from home. It is also used to help pay expenses for funerals and memorials, both local and across the nation, in the unfortunate circumstance of a line-of-duty or active-duty death of a department member.
Our fund has been built primarily through the donations from our fire department members and is an example of how the fire family goes above and beyond to take care of each other. Your donation will be utilized to provide care like this for the families of those that are called to take care of our communities every day.
Key Roles
Serve as a ministry of presence in crises.
Liaison between department and families during mass casualty/significant events, including line of duty deaths.
Participate in celebrating fire department families’ happy occasions, including weddings.
Conduct hospital visits and ceremonies including funerals, memorials, flag ceremonies, and community events.
Promote workplace psychological safety and support behavioral health.
